When an AI video fails, adding more cinematic words rarely reveals the cause. Diagnose the clip by separating subject motion, camera motion, environment, stability, and duration. Change one part, generate again, and compare against the previous output.
The clip looks almost frozen
The prompt may describe appearance without an observable action. Replace “cinematic woman in a windy street” with a sequence: “She takes two steps toward the doorway and pauses; her coat and nearby paper signs respond to the same wind.” Use a verb, direction, distance, and ending.
If the reference pose is rigid, request one small motion before a full action. Subtle breathing, shifting weight, or lifting an object can give the shot a physical starting point.
The motion is chaotic
Count the independent events. Walking, turning, smiling, changing clothes, exploding particles, an orbit camera, and a location transformation cannot all remain controlled in a short clip. Keep one primary action and one compatible secondary response.
Split a complex concept into multiple shots. A sequence edited from three stable clips is more useful than one generation containing three unstable scenes.
The camera moves in the wrong direction
State the starting position, direction, pace, and target. “Camera moves right” can mean the camera travels right or the scene pans right. Write: “The camera tracks laterally from left to right alongside the cyclist, matching her speed and keeping her centered.”
Remove other camera terms such as orbit, zoom, crane, and handheld until the direction works.
Hands or object contact break
Hands become difficult when they rotate, grip a small object, cross the body, or disappear behind another surface. Begin with a clear source pose and a simple contact action. Describe which hand, what it touches, and where it stops: “Her right hand lifts the cup by its handle and stops at chest height.”
If hand detail is not important, change the framing so the action occurs outside the close focal area.
The product changes shape
Keep the product still during the first test. Let light, camera, or a foreground element create the reveal. State the protected geometry: silhouette, cap, label, edges, and grounded shadow. Avoid full rotations when only one product view exists.
When the label or packaging is already incorrect in the source image, repair it before animation.
The background flickers
The scene may contain too many small high-contrast details or conflicting environmental actions. Simplify signs, crowds, leaves, reflections, and patterned surfaces. State one shared wind or light direction. A static background with one foreground layer can create depth without asking every element to move.
The character identity changes
Reduce head rotation, expression, camera orbit, and duration. Protect a short list of identity anchors. Use a clearer reference and test a locked camera before adding movement. If only the ending drifts, ask the subject to settle sooner.
The clip ends mid-action
Include a final state: “The box lid reaches the open position and stops,” “The camera decelerates and holds on the product,” or “She reaches the doorway and pauses.” Make the action smaller if it cannot complete within the chosen duration.
The video feels artificial even when stable
Add a restrained physical response rather than more visual effects. Fabric should react to wind, a contact shadow should move with the object, foreground layers should show parallax, and a moving light should affect nearby surfaces. Cause-and-effect makes motion feel connected.
Use a repeatable repair loop
Write down the single most important failure. Remove instructions unrelated to that failure. Create the smallest corrected prompt. Generate two variations with the same source and settings. Compare only the target issue. When it improves, save the working phrase before restoring any optional style.
This process builds a personal troubleshooting library. Label successful fixes by symptom—frozen subject, fast camera, face drift, product warp, flicker, or weak ending—so future prompts start from evidence rather than guesswork.
